Sen. Crane attending session on education

State Representative Randy Nix and State Senator Mike Crane are holding a listening session with House and Senate Education Committees on Tuesday at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts on Lower Fayetteville Road.

The purpose of this session is to solicit information from the public regarding education policy. The Coweta County Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Steve Barker will be in attendance at the upcoming session. Also attending will be teachers and parents. The general public is invited to attend the educational sessions and provide information and knowledge on the topic.

The sessions are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and continue until 5:15 p.m. The legislators will break for dinner at that time, and reconvene at 6:30 p.m. From 6:30p.m. to 9 p.m., there will be a session offered in which the public will be available to comment.

If local residents are unable to attend, four more sessions are scheduled throughout the month of October. The following sessions and locations are upcoming:

• October 8, University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, hosted by Representative Kevin Tanner and Senator Steve Gooch.

• October 10, Georgia Gwinnett College in Lawrenceville, hosted by Representative Valerie Clark and Senator David Shafer.

• October 22, Middle Georgia State College, Eastman Campus in Eastman, hosted by Representative Jimmy Pruett and Senator John Crosby.

• October 29, Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia, hosted by Representative Greg Morris and Senator Tommie Williams.

There will be a time afterward in which the public will be allowed to comment.
