Wake Up Call meeting Wednesday

The September Wake Up Call session Wednesday morning will feature a program on “Prescription and Illegal Drug Abuse: Don’t Think it Can’t Happen in Your Workplace.”

The program will be in the boardroom on the third floor of the Summit Healthplex in Newnan Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m.

Jesse Hambrick of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and CEO of Georgia Drug Education and Consulting will provide information about the potential abuse of common prescription medications and illegal drugs in the workplace, how to be of assistance to employees and employers by providing insight into how to identify behavior that could be indicative of possible prescription and illegal drug abuse and how to recognize when prescription medications are potentially being diverted to the illicit drug market.

Even the safety of our own homes is threatened when we are a source for certain prescription drugs, note program organizers.

The Wake Up Call program is a community service provided by Georgia Bone & Joint, Summit Occupational Medicine/Urgent Care, and Georgia Pain Care and is an opportunity for area human resources, safety, risk and operations personnel or managers to network, share and to gather information that will be useful in their work. Anyone is welcome. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

For information and to make a reservation, contact Judith Carr at jcarr@sentryanesthesia.com or 770-490-3587 to help make sure there will be plenty of chairs, Carr said.
