The search for missing Eleanor T. Alexander continued Monday, and volunteers from all around the county have pulled together to lend a hand.

“It’s been steady all morning,” said Becky Alexander, daughter-in-law to the missing woman. “I would say that several hundreds of volunteers have helped search for her.”

Eleanor Alexander was last possibly seen by a passerby on Saturday after 1:00 a.m. walking on her home’s street, Providence Church Rd. Becky Alexander last saw her mother-in-law 9:00 p.m. Friday. Since then, she is believed to be without any food, water or medication.

Alexander is 78 years old and has been diagnosed with dementia. She is believed to be wearing a white shirt with either red or pink horizontal stripes, and faded, almost white blue jeans. Volunteers have been asked to look for any traces of clothing, and to notify Becky Alexander if they find anything.

According to Becky Alexander, Eleanor Alexander was in good physical condition Friday, but she might be mentally suffering from her dementia. Becky Alexander said that she believes her mother-in-law would not have walked far and must still be nearby. Lisa Beavers, Eleanor Alexander’s niece, told volunteers that Alexander might not know who she is and could be afraid of any strangers.

Volunteers have been working alone and in groups to canvas the area. They have been asking all homeowners along the roads in the area, have begun posting fliers signs around the area and one volunteer had the idea to try using Alexander’s dog to search for her.

At the moment, authorities have pulled back the ground search and are following logistical leads.

Anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office at 770-253-1502.
