One winning essay will be selected from each of Georgia Municipal Association’s 12 districts. Winners will receive a $250 and other prizes. Essays need to be in by this Friday. The winners, along with their parents and a teacher, will be recognized at an awards luncheon in April. All students submitting essays will receive a “Certificate of Participation” as a thank-you for their interest and effort.
Locally, the City of Newnan will also sponsor a pizza party for the Coweta winner and his or her class, and present them with a visit and certificate from the Newnan Mayor Keith Brady.
Essays may not exceed 350 words. All sixth grade students in Coweta are eligible to enter. The contest gives sixth grade students a chance to creatively use grade-specific language arts skills and civics/social studies knowledge. The City of Newnan and its Cultural Arts Commission has begun the process of exploring ideas for an adaptive re-use of the old Municipal Building, including the Wadsworth Auditorium, to support cultural arts programming in Newnan. It is envisioned that this redesigned facility could become a cultural arts destination and support the efforts to promote tourism and economic development in historic downtown Newnan.

This survey will help us develop a master plan which is a view into the future and it helps mold what this facility will look like.

Citizen answers to these questions will provide the framework and the priorities for the proposed improvements to the Municipal Building. Therefore, responses to these questions are very important.

The link to the survey is available on the city website www.ci.newnan.ga.us and here is the link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5HBXVS3 .

All surveys must be completed by March 15.
