Do you know what molecule’s double-helix structure first was documented by scientists James Watson and Francis Crick? Of Iran, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt, can you correctly name which country does not border Israel?
Trivia can support local literacy when Certified Literate is Coweta’s Key (CLICK) holds its annual Trivia Bee March 14 at 7 p.m. at the Carnegie Library in downtown Newnan. Participants – typically sponsored teams – compete in a series of rounds with a final round determining the winner.
“The Trivia Bee is our primary fundraiser for the year so we put everything we’ve got into making it fun and a success,” said Lisa Johnston, executive director of CLICK.
Tax-deductible sponsorships are offered at five levels: platinum – $1,500 (team and special promotion); gold – $750 (team and promotion); silver – $500 (team and promotion); bronze – $250; and friend – $100.
“We are looking for sponsors at all levels,” Johnston said.
Organizers also are accepting donations of door prizes to be raffled off among contestants and spectators at the event, which will again feature Danny Beck as emcee and Jimmy Bass as musical entertainment.

CLICK’s mission is “to enable all individuals to improve their quality of life through literacy,” helping local citizens learn to read, write, do basic math and use computers with a view to ensuring they have the skills to lift themselves out of poverty, contribute to improved health care costs, and find and keep sustainable employment.

In 2012 CLICK had 25 volunteer tutors assisting adults in improving basic literacy skills, and also offering pre-GED and ESL tutoring in adult education classes, Johnson said. CLICK also provided GED test fee scholarships to 35 GED students, many of whom earned their GED and were able to pursue employment or college, she said.
