An 81-year-old woman’s car landed upside down on Jackson Street in downtown Newnan after her car was broadsided around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Responders with the Newnan Fire Department pulled Joyce Morgan out through one of the windows.
“I don’t know which window they got me out of,” Morgan said after the accident. “I was upside down.”
Morgan, driving a Chevrolet Malibu, was on Wesley Street attempting to cross Jackson, according to Newnan Police Officer Scott Milam. A truck in the right lane stopped and the driver motioned for her to go ahead. However, a Suzuki Reno in the left lane, driven by Allen Trenton, 24, did not see Morgan’s car until it was too late and broadsided her.
The impact flipped Morgan’s vehicle. Neither driver was hurt.
Morgan was charged with failure to yield, according to Milam.
But Morgan was more upset about something else.
“I had just filled that car up with a tank of gas,” she said. “That’s like gold. How am I going to get that back.”
