The family of Coweta genealogist Frances Banks Storey has donated her files to the Coweta County Genealogical Society.
Storey, who died last year, did genealogical research for years and wrote two books about her family. She was a descendant of Drury Banks, a Revolutionary War soldier who was an early settler of Coweta County.
The society will hold a dedication ceremony for the material collected by Storey, who was a founding CCGS member. The event will be held Feb. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the CCGS research library – which is located in the historic passenger depot in Grantville.
Storey's son and daughter-in-law, longtime Coweta educators Jim and Charlene Storey, will be honored at the gathering. The Storeys now live near Franklin.
Winston Skinner, a longtime friend and cousin of Frances Storey, will be speaking. A reception will follow.
