Today is the last day to early vote for Tuesday’s special election.
The special election is to fill the District 71 seat in the Georgia House of Representatives. District 71 covers most of eastern Coweta County and a portion of southern Coweta, as well as a small portion of Peachtree City.
There are six candidates: five Republicans and one Democrat. They are Democrat Cynthia Bennett; and Republicans Tom Crymes, Michael Farbo Jr., Darryl Marmon, David Stover and Richard Weisser.
If one candidate does not get more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote-getters will advance to a runoff on March 5.
Early voting takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Coweta Voter Registration Office, 22 East Broad St., Newnan, in the Coweta administration building.
Turnout has been very light for early voting, which began Jan. 23. As of Thursday afternoon, there had been 200 votes cast in the voter registration office, officials said.
All residents of District 71 are eligible to vote early, but you must bring a photo ID to vote. Acceptable IDs include a Georgia Driver’s License, even if expired, or a valid state ID card, passport, tribal photo ID, military photo ID, or work photo ID issued by any branch of federal, state, or local government.

For more information on early voting you can call the voter registration office at 770-254-2615.
