A $5,000 reward is being offered for the arrest of at least four suspects who burglarized a Coweta County convenience store Monday in what authorities are calling a methodical and professional job.
The burglary team also is suspected in other cases, and authorities were in contact Tuesday with surrounding law enforcement agencies, said Major Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.
Early Monday, four masked suspects entered the rear door of Frazier's One Stop on U.S. Highway 29 North at Edgeworth Road. The group cut through several fiber optic cables servicing Internet and phone systems prior to entry, according to a statement from the Coweta County Sheriff's Office.
"As they gained entry, that practice was continued where every line servicing any piece of equipment was severed," investigators said. "Equipped with a heavy industrial saw, the offenders cut through an ATM where a large amount of cash was taken."
Investigators said the suspects used the saw to cut into another large safe and "removed a considerable amount of currency."
"These men were methodical in their approach and execution," according to the statement. "They had prior knowledge of their target and used a driver."
The owner of the store said his insurance company was offering a $5,000 reward leading to the arrest of the subjects.
