Get into the holiday season with two special December events in Historic Senoia.
“Light Up Senoia” kicks off the celebration Dec. 1 with a festive parade through downtown. Activities begin at 4 p.m. and the “Light Up Senoia” parade will include decorated floats, live music, and entertainment.
Charlie Filkins and Scott Sargeant, “The Car Guys,” will emcee the event.
The parade steps off at 5:30. Grand marshal for this year’s parade is Rutledge Wood, star of the popular television series “Top Gear,” along with his family. Parents may bring their cameras to take a photo of their child with Santa.
For hungry spectators, the food court will open at 4 p.m.
The following weekend, on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m., the “Candlelight Tour of Homes” will take visitors through the historic Senoia United Methodist Church and six historic Senoia homes beautifully decorated for Christmas.
The Chancel Choir of the Senoia United Methodist Church will present mini-concerts at 5:15 and 7:30 p.m. The concerts are open to the public at no charge.

Tickets for the homes tour are $12 in advance or $15 the evening of the tour, and are available in downtown Senoia at Gail’s Antiques, Senoia Coffee & Café, Beyond the Door, Table Talk, and Second Hand Sam’s. They may also be purchased the evening of the event at the Senoia Welcome Center at 68 Main St.

All the holiday events are sponsored by the Senoia Downtown Development Authority.

Anyone who would like to participate in the “Light Up Senoia” parade may go to the DDA website at www.enjoysenoia.com or the city website at www.senoia.com and print off the parade entry form. Civic organizations, church groups, music or dance groups and businesses are welcome to add their creative spirit to the parade festivities. If you would like to sell baked goods for your church or civic group, contact Gail Downs at 770-599-9155 or Suzanne Helfman at 770-599-8182 for information and entry forms.
