Newnan-Coweta Chamber host for candidate forum on Oct. 22

Newnan-Coweta Chamber will sponsor a candidate forum Oct. 22 at the Chamber building in Newnan.
Candidates seeking the Coweta County Commissioners Fifth District seat and candidates for the 132nd District, Georgia House of Representatives will be presenting their platforms.
The Coweta County Commissioners Fifth District segment will be from 7 to 7:30 p.m. and the Georgia House of Representatives District 132 segment will be from 7:30 to 8 p.m.
The forum is not a debate and will follow a modified version of the League of Women Voters format. Each candidate will have two minutes for their opening statement followed by a series of questions vetted from the Chamber’s membership. Each will be allowed a closing statement as well.
One candidate has qualified to challenge incumbent Carl Von Epps (D, Troup) and will run in the Georgia House of Representatives District 132. He is Gene King (R, Meriwether). One candidate has qualified to challenge incumbent Al Smith (D) County Commissioner for the Fifth District in the Nov. 6 primary election. He is Hayden Marlowe (R).
There is no charge to attend and seating will be on a first come, first-seated basis. The Chamber building is at the corner of Bullsboro Drive and Farmer Street in Newnan.

The Chamber will not endorse any candidate and will continue its policy of remaining neutral toward all candidates.
