Food and fun were on hand in downtown Newnan Thursday night for the Taste of Newnan.
Patrons were enjoying the added chairs and tables in front of the stage on West Broad Street, and dozens of children were taking advantage of the 1904 Courthouse lawn to run and play.
"We have a really nice crowd. It seems to be going great," said Newnan Main Street Manager JoAnn Gentry.
Tony Knott and his family were sitting in front of the stage, finishing up their food and waiting on the band to start.
"It is awesome," he said of the added tables and chairs.
"I was just over there and there's a lot of people sitting down, eating their food and enjoying the bands," said Gentry. "It seems to be pretty positive."
The other big change this time was switching from the wooden tokens that had been used for years to paper tickets. Knott said he doesn't really care either way but "the tokens were a nice novelty."
Things were also more spread out, said Hasco Craver, Newnan director of business development and Main Street. They did that on purpose to give visitors more room to spread out and enjoy their food.
"It's an event that appeals to people of all ages," Craver said. "We want everybody to be able to come and enjoy it. All this spread out is by design."
A.J. Beadles, Walter Robinson and Cherie Robinson were enjoying their pizza. They come out every year.

WIlson and Linda Culbreth of Senoia have been coming for years as well. They were enjoying dessert of funnel cakes, ice cream and sorbet. Each year, they try restaurants they haven't visited before. "We usually try a couple of different ones" so they'll know of new places to go out to eat, Wilson said.

"The food is always good, the setting is great," he said. "It's very nice. It's crowded but it's a big enough place where we can get around."

There was voting for the "Best of Taste of Newnan" and "Best Booth" but results weren't in by Thursday evening, said Gentry.
