Taste of Newnan food festival 5-8:30 tonight on Court Square

Newnan’s popular Taste of Newnan food festival returns to the Court Square tonight for its fall edition, celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Sponsored by Main Street Newnan, the festival offers a night of fun for the whole family 5-8:30 p.m.
The event showcases some of the area’s best restaurants and caterers.
Attendees may sample foods that these businesses do best.
One major change for Taste of Newnan is that the old wooden tokens will no longer be used. Attendees will instead purchase tickets for all of their “taste” purchases, explained JoAnn Gentry, Main Street manager. Five ticket booths will be set up on the four corners of the square and one next to the Kidz Zone on West Washington Street.
Visitors tonight will be able to do a “one-time” only exchange of past tokens for the new event tickets. Tickets are $1 each.
The token exchange will be allowed at this fall Taste of Newnan event only and attendees will need to exchange the wooden tokens at the ticket booths downtown. Tokens no longer will be accepted from the vendors.

“Each vendor will have a little menu,” said Gentry. “The one big difference this year is that we will not be using tokens.”

Patrons will be able to vote at a tent on South Court Square for “Best of Taste of Newnan” and “Best Booth” and register for the drawing of a $100 downtown gift certificate.

There are more than 40 vendors signed up to participate tonight.

Tables and chairs will be set up along West Broad Street where festival-goers may sit and enjoy their “tastes” while listening to entertainment by bands True Witness and ADB.

At the Kidz Zone on West Washington Street, youngsters can enjoy carnival rides, face painting, funnel cakes, fried Oreos and more.

Taste of Newnan is an open event and there is no admission charge. As with all Main Street events, this is rain or shine.
