Two southbound lanes of Interstate 85 near mile marker 55 were closed for less than half an hour Friday morning after items that spilled from an overturned trailer caused a traffic hazard.
The incident occurred when a pickup truck pulling a U-Haul trailer swerved to avoid debris on the interstate, according to Assistant Chief Mitch Coggin of the Coweta County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the scene, as did EMS and the Georgia State Patrol. No one was in injured. Firefighters managed to turn the trailer back over and then cleared debris from the road.
“Things were scattered all over the road,” Coggin said. “It took us about 15 minutes to clear it all.”
Two lanes of the interstate were closed while the cleanup took place.
