A tree fell on the outdoor set of TV series “The Walking Dead” in Senoia on Monday – sending three people to the hospital.
The Coweta County Fire Department received a call at 4:59 p.m. about the situation. Deputy Fire Chief Todd Moore said the call was “in regards to traumatic injuries resulting from a tree falling.”
“One of the victims was taken by ground ambulance to Atlanta Medical Center and the other two victims were taken by ground ambulance to Piedmont Newnan Hospital,” Moore said.
The tree fell on the RiverWood Studios property.
“It is my understanding – based on eye witness reports – that a tree that was located in close proximity to a tent fell, striking the victims,” Moore said. The victims were treated on scene by an on-site medical staff member, then put into a white van and transported to the end of a driveway at 3363 Highway 85.
“Our crews responded to that location. Due to the topography and road system, the studio staff didn’t know if our units could reach their location so they transported them to a more accessible area,” Moore said.
“The Walking Dead” is a popular AMC television series with a zombie theme. Significant filming is scheduled in and around Senoia this year.
The series will also be filming in Newnan near Caldwell Tanks Aug. 9-10.
Cast members in the series include Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun and Chandler Riggs.
