Harold McCoy was selected as the 2011 Employee of the Year for United Bank’s Newnan Division.

Camp chosen for leadership academy
Thomas H. “Harry” Camp, an attorney at Arnall Golden Gregory in Atlanta, was selected to participate in the 2012 State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division Leadership Academy.
The Leadership Academy helps attorneys develop their leadership skills while learning more about their profession, their communities and their state.
Camp is an associate practicing on Arnall Golden Gregory’s business litigation practice team. He focuses his practice on general business litigation and has experience in matters involving contract disputes, banking and real estate litigation, business torts, fraud and white-collar investigations, bankruptcy, intellectual property disputes, alternative resolution and e-discovery issues.
Camp is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia School of Law.

Acupuncture First celebrates first year
Acupuncture First, Coweta’s only full-service Chinese medicine facility, recently celebrated its first year of operation.
Acupuncture First is located inside the Newnan School of Gymnastics at 4 Shenandoah Boulevard. It is owned and operated by Linda Barbour, MSOM, L.Ac, a former East Coweta science teacher and 25-year local resident.
Barbour is a graduate of Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine in Gainesville, Fla., where she received 10 semesters of training in herbal therapies, nutrition, cupping, guasha, moxibustion and acupuncture. She is nationally certified and licensed by the state of Georgia to practice all aspects of Oriental Medicine. Barbour also studied pain management techniques and specializes in diagnostics.
Adhering to the belief that when in balance the human body has remarkable abilities to heal itself, Linda uses the time-honored principles of Oriental Medicine to bring the body into balance. Some of the more commonly treated conditions include pain, digestive issues, stress, headaches and menopausal issues.
In addition to private appointments, acupuncture is also offered in a community setting.

J. Smith Lanier sponsors brain tumor fundraiser
The Eighth Annual J. Smith Lanier & Co. Charity Golf Classic, to benefit the BrainTumor Foundation for Children, took place at Chateau Elan.
The event was part of National Brain Tumor Awareness Month.

SAAHU qualifies for gold certification
The National Association of Health Underwriters has announced that the South Atlanta Association of Health Underwriters has qualified to receive gold certification.
“Gold certification is bestowed upon chapters that have demonstrated developmental excellence in their local area, nationally and in the health care industry,” said NAHU CEO Janet Trautwein. “The volunteers in the South Atlanta AHU met our expectations and far exceeded them.”
The SAAHU group also recently sponsored a charity golf tournament benefitting The Children’s Village at Christian City.

Kroger raises $375,000 for muscular dystrophy
Kroger’s Atlanta Division stores collected more than $375,000 in the recent shamrock campaign to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
During the campaign, customers and associates could purchase a shamrock shaped pinup card for a donation of $1 or $5.
Kroger Atlanta has supported MDA for the past 12 years. The funds raised through the annual campaign go toward research and local support programs including a summer
“Everyone involved really responded to this year’s campaign, even in these tough economic conditions,” said Sabrina Hughes, regional director of MDA’s Southeast Division.
