County, black churches negotiating; two lawsuits in federal court after permits denied

There has been activity in two federal lawsuits filed regarding Coweta County’s denial of permits for black churches — including the U.S. Department of Justice getting involved to defend the constitutionality of the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Person Act (RLUIPA), which protects churches from zoning abuses.
