Traffic was closed on Georgia Highway 16 E. for about three hours after an accident Thursday.
The accident occurred just west of Georgia Highway 54 when a westbound landscaping truck driven by Matthew Shane Bussey crossed the centerline, according to Georgia State Patrol Senior Trooper Kelvin Searcy.
Bussey’s vehicle then struck the left rear of a garbage truck driven by Michael Morman, who was eastbound, the trooper said. Morman’s truck went off the road and flipped onto its side. A third vehicle, a Toyota Scion driven by Catherine Leach, also went into the ditch to avoid hitting the trucks.
Rescue workers had to sweep all the dirt and debris off the roadway and then hosed it down with water from a Coweta County Fire Department truck.
Searcy said there were only minor injuries reported, adding Bussey was charged with failure to maintain lane.
