Two students honored by Heritage Christian

Seniors Jacob Davis and Lanie Norton have been selected for first-semester awards by Heritage Christian School in Sharpsburg.

Davis, the son of Tim and Debra Davis of Newnan, was named Student of the Semester for excellent academic performance, moral character and leadership skills. He is the HCS student government co-secretary and varsity basketball team captain, as well as coach of the intramural elementary basketball team.

Davis works part-time at Chick-fil-a and plans to attend the University of West Georgia to study mechanical engineering and transfer to Georgia Tech after two years to complete his degree. Davis has maintained a 4.0 throughout his high school years.

Norton, daughter of Steve and Kay Norton of Fayetteville, received the Spirit Award, which is given for high academic performance, leadership skills and modeling Christ in one's personal life and interpersonal behavior. Norton is the HCS student government vice-president, varsity cheerleading coach and varsity volleyball captain.

Norton started an HCS high school girls' Bible study group and is worship team leader for the childrens' ministry at Southside Church. She plans to attend Georgia College and State University and major in psychology.
