Schools taking part in scarecrow contest

Local elementary schools have assembled scarecrows that are part of a contest being held by Country Gardens Farm and Nursery.

The scarecrows are now on view at Country Gardens. Area residents are invited to vote for their favorite scarecrow by bringing non-perishable food items that will be donated to the local food pantry.

"I would like to see the community be aware of the wonderful job that the kids have done in creating very unique scarecrows and also in letting them know about the opportunity that they have to contribute food for the people in the community that are needing it," said Judy Cunningham of Country Gardens.

The scarecrows will be on view through the end of October.
