Register Monday for library program
In addition to the Summer Reading Program books and reading, Coweta County Public Library System will once again offer an outstanding schedule of performances and special events starting May 28.
On Monday, sign-ups for the various reading programs will begin. This year the themes are: Adults - Groundbreaking Reads; Teens - Beneath the Service and Children - Dig into Reading. All contest levels will feature desirable prizes such as Kindle readers, a Nabi tablet and a treasure chest of goodies.
For summer, each library will offer a weekly show at a uniquely-scheduled time, said Library System Director Jimmy Bass. This is a beneficial change especially created for Coweta families, he said.
“This new schedule will allow children and their parents to see multiple programs during the week or get a second chance to see a missed program.”
On Tuesdays, A. Mitchell Powell Jr. Library on Hospital Road will offer a program at 11 a.m. and the Grantville Library will offer one at 2 p.m. On Wednesdays, the Central Library on Literary Lane in east Coweta will host a program at 11 a.m. while the Senoia Library will begin its programs at 2 p.m.
The slate of performances, events and special programs will be available on the library’s website, www.cowetapubliclibrary.org. Copies of the summer schedule can be picked up at all libraries beginning Tuesday.
All four branches of the Coweta County Public Library System are gearing up for the annual Summer Reading Program.
The library system now has an electronic newsletter that will be keeping subscribers apprised of all library events, including summer reading. Signing up for this secure and confidential service can be completed at www.cowetapubliclibrary.org.
“The e-newsletter is really taking off; it is a great way to stay connected with our customers and to ensure that they are receiving news about everything we offer,” Bass said.
The library is proud to bring back some familiar faces while offering library patrons some new “up and comers” on the library circuit.
Patrons will see Ken Scott, Lee Bryan and Todd Key while also getting to know Sean Driscoll and the Company of Friends Theatrical Production. Driscoll is known for his show “the Story Ship,” and the Company of Friends will offer a production of “The Wizard of Oz.
All reading contests will run through the end of July, as will the special events that begin on May 28 — the Tuesday after Memorial Day.
The Coweta public libraries’ Summer Reading Programs are made possible by the generous funding of Coweta County and the state of Georgia. In addition to these agencies, the Friends of the Powell Library and the Central Library Friends are both strong supporters of these wonderful programs for the community, Bass said.
