Students from Atkinson Elementary School were honored at the Georgia Stock Market Game luncheon on May 7.

Attending the luncheon were fourth-graders Gabe Bowles, Quinn Inman and Colin Swenney. The luncheon was held at the Georgia Train Depot in downtown Atlanta.

The four were recognized among other county winners from around the state. The Atkinson fourth-graders “invested” $100,000  in the stock market during a 10-week period. Their profits totalled $7,966.

Their REACH teacher, Cami Sullivan, directed them in the project. The Stock Market Game emphasizes many mathematics standards for fourth graders.

The Atkinson pupils are looking forward to playing the Georgia Stock Market game in the fall.
