Newnan's Connor Swords valedictorian at Landmark Christian

by Staff Reports

Newnan’s Connor Swords has been named valedictorian of Landmark Christian School’s Class of 2013.

Swords’ other achievements at Landmark include being named an AP Scholar with Distinction and a National Merit Scholar. Swords was also selected as Landmark’s STAR student for 2013 and was captain of Landmark’s Math Competition and Olympiad Quiz Bowl teams.

Swords also excelled in non-academic activities and was chosen as the captain of both the varsity football and soccer teams.

Three years ago Swords and several classmates started a discipleship group for elementary school boys and since that time have met with the boys each week to do Bible study and to encourage their Christian growth.

“My high school experience has taught me the importance of holding myself to a standard of excellence in all aspects of my life,” Swords said.

Swords will attend the University of Pennsylvania, where he has been accepted into the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology, a dual-degree program of The Wharton School and Penn Engineering.

Swords said, “I am most looking forward to the gratification associated with the academic challenges and the newfound independence of college life.”

Swords is the son of Dr. Philip and Lorri Swords of Newnan.
