Changes to immunization requirements for Georgia students
According to Georgia’s Department of Public Health, effective July 1, children born on or after Jan 1, 2002 and new eighth through 12th grade students in a Georgia school, must have received one dose of Tdap vaccine and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine.

Jetter and Kennedy named to Valdosta State’s Honors College
Nia Jetter of Newnan and Jessica Kennedy of Sharpsburg were admitted to Valdosta State University’s Honors College this summer or fall with honors scholarships awarded by the VSU Foundation. The scholarship was awarded based on ACT/SAT scores and cumulative high school grade point average.
Tomys awarded Phi Kappa Phi fellowship
Stephanie Kate Tomys of Newnan has been awarded a fellowship worth $5,000 by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Tomys received a bachelor's degree in political science from Berry College and will continue studies in law at Georgia State University.
