Canongate Elementary holds Pre-K bash
by Celia Shortt
Just prior to school letting out for the summer, Canongate Pre-K teacher, Ruth Prost, held a “Grand Finale” for her students.
“The early years of learning are the most essential for a child’s development, both socially and academically,” said Prost. “During these fundamental malleable years, a child strives to develop a sense of self and how they fit into the equation. I wanted each Pre-K student to experience and participate in a celebration that commended their accomplishments. My hope is that their first year of school left a positive and lasting impression.”
The “Grand Finale” featured food, games, and snow cones for Pre-K students and their families. The Balloon Man was on hand to provide entertainment, including a magic show. Other Canongate staff and students were also able to participate in the festivities.
“The best part was seeing the children’s facial expressions, hearing the laughter, watching the families beam with delight and seeing the fellowship among staff, children, and families,” said Prost.
Prost hopes this celebration is the first of many to come.
