Local students named to Dean’s List at Berry

The following local students have been named to the fall 2013 Dean's List at Berry College in Rome, Ga. From Newnan: Whitney Kirkpatrick, Joe Crain, Ellen Rayburn, Ryan Smith, Stephanie Tomys, and Preston Woods. From Sharpsburg: Sarah Odom, Edwin Rivera, Ashley West, and Katy Sexton. From Senoia: Lauren Buck. From Fayetteville: Ann Christian Juren and Emily Barton. To be eligible for Dean's List, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.5 or better.

Tornatore named to Dean’s List at Brockport

Anthony Tornatore of Senoia has been named to the Dean's List The College at Brockport, State University of New York for the fall 2013 semester. Students who earn a GPA of 3.40 to 3.69 are named to the Dean's List.

Ingram’s art work featured at the High

Art work by Brenau University junior Caylene Ingram of Brooks qualified for inclusion in a special exhibition at the prestigious High Museum of Art in Atlanta from Jan. 28 through Feb. 14. Ingram majors in fashion design at Brenau.

Butler earns a Gold Star at The Citadel

Codi James Dalton Humphri Butler was recently honored for outstanding academic achievement at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. During the fall semester of the 2013-2014 academic year, Butler earned one of the college's top academic honors — a Gold Star. Gold Star honors are presented to students who achieve a 3.7 grade point average or higher during a semester's course work. Students that achieve Gold Star recognition are also placed on The Citadel's Dean's List.

Butler is seeking a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Locals named to Dean’s List at Wake Forest

Five local students have been named to the fall 2013 Dean's List at Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC. Elizabeth Busby of Fayetteville, Barron Jeter of Moreland, Norman Heindel of Newnan, Sara Commander of Palmetto, and Elizabeth Domzalski of Palmetto. Students who achieve a 3.4 and no grade below a C were named to the list.

Wood named to Dean’s List at Clemson

Ciara Wood of Newnan has been named to the Dean's List at Clemson University in South Carolina for the fall 2013 semester. A student must achieve a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale to be named to the Dean’s List. Wood is an early childhood education major.

Locals earn degrees at Brewton-Parker

Jeffrey Hoyos, Edward C. Hunter, Rene Abrahan Martinez Osorio, David Thomas Mitchusson, Joseph H. Thrower, and Laura Elizabeth Whitley, all of Newnan, and Amy

Leigh Kerlin and Melinda Susanne Tew, both of Sharpsburg, graduated from Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon following the December 2013 term.

Thrower earned a bachelor of ministry degree. Both Hoyos and Martinez earned bachelor of business administration degrees with concentrations in accounting. Hunter earned a bachelor of business administration degree with a general concentration. Tew earned a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education.

Kerlin, Mitchusson, and Whitley earned associate of arts degrees.

MacLachlan named to Dean’s List at Wheaton

Wheaton College student Daniel MacLachlan of Fayetteville was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2013 semester. MacLachlan is majoring in Biology.

Dean's List honors are earned at Wheaton by undergraduate students who carry 12 or more credit hours and achieve a 3.5 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale.
