Barnett graduates from Southern Poly

Errin Barnett of Moreland recently graduated Cum Laude from Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta. She was one of two women to graduate with a degree in construction management and also earned a minor in business administration.

Barnett was one of two in the entire department graduating Cum Laude and was instrumental in starting a new tradition at Southern Poly, which allows construction management graduates to wear hard hats with tassels rather than traditional mortar board caps.

Dr. Rossbacher, President of SPSU, was excited about this new tradition and highlighted the Construction Management Department during commencement saying, “CM grads would like to trade in their traditional mortar board caps for a hard hat to show they are ready for the work force.”

Barnett is a member of Sigma Lambda Chi, an International Construction Honors Society; the Association of Builders and Contractors; and Baptist Collegiate Ministries.

Barnett has accepted a position with Southern Company Services as a Construction Engineering Specialist at Plant Bowen in Cartersville.

She is a former Newnan High School honor graduate and the daughter of Tom and Cindy Barnett of Moreland.
