The Newnan High School Environmental Club and Jobs for Georgia Graduates recently participated in the Georgia Power Renew Our Rivers cleanup at McIntosh Reserve in Whitesburg.
Students picked up trash and debris from along the Chattahoochee River.
Georgia Power provided T-shirts, safety supplies and a lunch prepared by its employees.
Students also received sponsorship from Georgia Power to kayak a seven-mile stretch of the Chattahoochee from the Whitesburg boat ramp to McIntosh Reserve.
Georgia Outfitters in Whitesburg provided guides for the kayak trip, which was a first for many of the Newnan High students.
