CEC TriBots participate in Ola VEX competition

Central Educational Center’s TriBots participated in the Ola HS VEX Robotics Competition in Stockbridge recently.
Team 95T finished the qualification rounds in fourth place with a record of 5-2 and was the No. 3 seed in the tournament. Team members selected Team 5916A from the Floyd County College and Career Academy to be their alliance partner, and the alliance won its quarterfinals match 2-0 after defeating the No. 6-seeded alliance 87-18 and 67-17.
Team 95 finished the qualification rounds in 12th place with a record of 4-3 and was seeded No. 8 in the tournament. The 4-3 finish came after a 0-3 start. Team members selected Team 1264D from Dunwoody High School to be their alliance partner and the alliance was eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual tournament champions 7-238 and 18-180.
Team 95 is made up of Mitch Busby (Newnan), Cooper Goldbeck (East Coweta), Jocelyn Singh (East Coweta) and Cameron Stone (Eighth Grade C&C Academy). Josh Morse also is a member of Team 95 but was not at the competition.
Team 95W finished the day in 19th place with a record of 2-5. Team members are Gaby Busby (Newnan), Ryan Knott (Newnan), Rebecca Olney (Newnan), David Craig (East Coweta), Carl Maynard and Aaron Hiller (Eighth Grade C&C Academy).
Team 95S finished the day in 23rd with a record of 0-7. Team members are Casey Tillery (Newnan), Jon Mabe and Trey Haag (Eighth Grade C&C Academy). Cordell Kadlick (Northgate), David Murphy (Newnan) and Mike Sessions (East Coweta) also are members of Team 95S but were not at the competition.
“Overall all of the teams had a good day,” said Scott Brown, TriBots coach. “They each learned something new and they had a good time doing it.”
Brown said he was thankful to the parents who came out and cheered on the TriBots, especially to Ken and Charmaine Goldbeck for chaperoning and “helping out all day with the teams and food, Brenda Murphy for the Rice Krispy treats and Linda McAlpin for the peanut butter and Snickers cookies.”
