More Coweta County students will now have access to technology during their school days as two Jefferson Parkway Elementary School teachers were awarded Bright Ideas grants for classroom upgrades.
Media Specialist Mary Dean and special education teacher Mary Elizabeth Mullins each received $1500 grants from Coweta-Fayette EMC, and both purchased iPads and accessories.
Mullins said the devices allow her students to access online practice and interactive exercises to reinforce the curriculum.
“I individualize instruction for all students,” she said. “Having iPads will help with the differentiation and special needs they have, and will also help them with their different styles of learning by offering tactile, visual, auditory and interactive opportunities to learn the curriculum.”
Dean’s purchases benefit students on all grade levels.
“The iPads are used as part of literacy centers, reading games, research, writing and presentation of work,” Dean said. “Students from all grade levels Pre-K - 5 will benefit from using iPads during center rotations.”

Apple TV projects from iPads wirelessly so Dean can share information with entire groups and classes.
