Heritage Christian School holds graduation for 7 in Class of 2012

Heritage Christian School in Sharpsburg held senior commencement at South Pointe Church recently, honoring the seven members of its Class of 2012.
HCS valedictorian was Jacob Davis and salutatorian was Matthew Heard. Other 2012 seniors graduating with honors were Matthew Patrick and Melanie “Lanie” Norton.
As they received their diplomas, the seniors were recognized for their accomplishments at HCS. Graduates also revealed their plans for the future.
A reception followed the ceremony allowing families and friends to honor the graduates.

Wesley Christensen of Greenville, who plans to attend the University of West Georgia: Drama, Spanish 1 and 2, Drama Student of the Year, student government, football, baseball, basketball and C-Team basketball coach. Life verse: Psalms 26:1 – The Lord is my light and my salvation; of whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid?

Jacob Davis of Newnan, who plans to attend the University of West Georgia and the Georgia Institute of Technology: Valedictorian (4.0 GPA), Spanish 1 and 2, advanced band, computer, advanced art, HCS Prince, Student of the Semester, basketball, All-Tournament Team Basketball, baseball and student government. Life verse: 1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain, saith the Lord.

Matthew Heard of Alvaton, who plans to attend Young Harris College as a Zell Miller and Young Harris scholarship recipient: Saluatorian (3.7 GPA), Eagle Scout, student government president, HCS Homecoming King, Spanish 1 and 2, Computer 1 and 2, advanced art, advanced band, basketball, basketball all-star, basketball MVP and baseball. Life verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Mark Landers of Newnan, who plans to attend Chattahoochee Technical College: Spanish 1 and 2, computer, art and advanced art, music, Latin and track. Life verse: Luke 1:37 – Nothing is impossible with respect to any of God’s promises.

Lilianna McDermott of Peachtree City, who plans to attend Immanuel Baptist Theological Seminary: Drama, Homecoming Queen, Homecoming Princess, art, computer, annual staff, softball, Softball Most Improved Award, varsity cheerleading, C-Team cheerleading coach and HCS Spirit Award. Life verse: Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Lanie Norton of Peachtree City, who plans to attend Georgia College and State University: (3.4 GPA), chorus, 9th grade class president, Jamz National Cheerleader Champion, Cheerport Grand Champion, MVP Cheerleading, varsity cheerleading, varsity volleyball, varsity volleyball captain, ICSGA Volleyball All-Star, student government vice president, softball, Heritage Award, HCS Spirit Award and Master’s Honor Roll. Life verse: Psalms 46:5 – God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God will help her, and that right early.

Matthew Patrick of Newnan, who plans to attend the University of West Georgia: (3.6 GPA), HCS Prince, Spanish 1 and 2, computer, advanced band, basketball, MVP Basketball, Varsity Basketball Coach’s Award, Varsity Basketball All-Star, baseball, Baseball All-Star, Crusader Award, student government secretary and HCS Spirit Award. Life verse: John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
