Carnegie launches E-book checkout

by Staff Reports

Newnan Carnegie Library has announced that Baker & Taylor, the world’s largest distributor of books, digital content and entertainment products, will be the provider of their free, Axis 360 digital media library for all interested residents of Coweta County.

This state-of-the-art software is available to patrons starting today, funded by seed money from the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation.

“Adding Axis 360 to the Carnegie’s services means a chance to provide our community access to the ever-growing demand for digital collections. Patrons can utilize the format they prefer, from the printed page in our Honor Book section to the touchscreen of the E-reader device,” said Amy Mapel, Carnegie director.

Libraries using the Axis 360 service benefit from the latest Web technologies and cloud-based delivery to mobile devices. Patrons at the Carnegie will enjoy the dynamic presentation of titles on the Axis 360 Magic Wall and the ease of Browse by Subject pages, as well as guidance provided via book reviews and recommendations. Local patrons just need to stop by the Carnegie and fill out a brief registration form to obtain their free “Carnegie Card.” Library staff will be available to answer questions and training sessions will be scheduled soon.
