Grandparents Raising Grandchildren enjoys back to school event

Recently at the Tommy Thompson Senior Center in Newnan, the Family Patterns Matter organization in partnership with Three Rivers of the Southern Regional Commission held a back to school event for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.

The event was a kickoff for the upcoming year for the students..

This group meets the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Tommy Thompson Senior Center on Hospital Road. The next meeting is Aug. 20.

“Becoming the Parent Again” is the focus of the meeting for these grandparents who need support for a variety of reasons. Topics will be: What are our rights? Emergency Respite? Relaxing when you can? Nutrition on a budget that children will eat? Addressing holidays? Birth parent involvement or not? Fun activities? Homework help?
