• The Newnan Carnegie will host “Gentle Yoga” Feb. 6 and Feb. 13 from 2:30 p.m.-4 p.m. The class is for all levels of physical ability — stretch and strengthen muscles through mild cardio. Floor or chair exercises are offered. Participants can gain flexibility and balance, as well as relieve stress. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Equipment will be provided. • Piedmont Newnan Hospital hosts a workshop, “Understanding and Managing Dementia,” for family and caregivers Friday, Feb. 21 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the hospital on Poplar Road in Conference Room 2. The workshop will cover diagnosis, types and stages of dementia, community resources, financial and legal concerns, communication techniques and the role of medications in managing challenging behaviors. • Yard sale donations — The 2014 Coweta County employees Relay for Life team is planning a yard sale and is taking donations of items. The Relay for Life event each spring raises funds for the American Cancer Society. Anyone who has items they would like to donate yard sale may contact Yvonne Binion, in the Coweta Planning Department at 770-254-2635 or Dora Hayes, in the Coweta Building Department at 770-254-2660. The 2014 Coweta County Relay for Life Team Yard Sale will be March 1, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Asa Powell Expo Center, 197 Temple Ave. in Newnan.

• Blood Drives — Piedmont Newnan Hospital and the American Red Cross will host blood drives at the hospital on Poplar Road March 7, May 2 and July 11. All will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Conference Room 2. • Eighth Annual Newnan Jr. Service League Shamrock 5k/10k/Leprechaun Dash benefiting Rowe Together, American Red Cross- 3 Rivers Chapter, Ronald McDonald House of Columbus and Newnan-Coweta Lions Club is March 15 in downtown Newnan. • Kidney Smart — Piedmont Newnan Hospital and a local dialysis group hold Kidney Smart classes monthly second Wednesdays at Piedmont Newnan, Poplar Road, at 4:30 p.m. The one-hour class is free including materials. Fourth shift/ professional shift available for dialysis patients. Urgent Start is a program collaborating with hospitals regarding unexpected kidney failure in an attempt to avoid dialysis in center.
