• Yard sale benefiting the fight against Alzheimer's will be held at Emeritus at Newnan Saturday, Oct. 19 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. The sale will be held at 355 Millard Farmer Industrial Blvd. For info call 770-252-9007.

• Annual Car show by Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church in Turin on Saturday, Oct. 19, will benefit the local Cancer Support Group. Mt. Gilead has provided large support to expand the Survivor program of Relay For Life Coweta. • Cancer Support Group meets at First Baptist Church in Newnan second Wednesdays. Next is Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. at 15 West Washington Street in Room 129C. Programs focus on cancer and the needs of Coweta's cancer patients. Guests may be invited.


• Biblical Counseling Training - Faith Bible Church in Sharpsburg is offering two Biblical Counseling Training sessions. Classes cover a practical theology of biblical counseling and a practical methodology of biblical counseling. Option one meets 7-9 p.m. on Mondays through Dec. 9, and Jan. 6 through April 28, 2014. Option two meets 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. two Saturdays a month through Dec. 7 and Jan. 4 -April 19, 2014. For details: call the church at 770-252-8244.


• Kidney Smart - Piedmont Newnan Hospital and a local dialysis group are working to raise education on kidney disease. Kidney Smart classes are held monthly second Wednesdays at Piedmont Newnan on Poplar Road at 4:30 p.m. The one-hour class is free including materials. Fourth shift/professional shift is available for dialysis patients. Urgent Start is a program collaborating with hospitals regarding unexpected kidney failure in an attempt to avoid dialysis in center.
