 • The Coweta County Senior Center is hosting an organizational meeting for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and Kinship Caregivers on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. The meeting is for grandparents who have had to give up retirement or are facing disabilities to raise grandchildren or kinship on their own. • Pink Posse Walk — The 8th Annual Pink Posse Walk will occur Saturday, Sept. 21 at 8 a.m. The Pink Posse is a foundation that helps support cancer patients while in treatment since 2006. All funds are used locally. The walk will feature door prizes, t-shirts, jewelry for sale and special gifts for survivors. The event is open to all ages (but please no dogs). • Emeritus at Newnan is having a car show on Sept. 2 from 10-2 p.m. Registration is $10. People who register a car will get a free lunch. The event will also be having hamburger and hotdog plates for $5, as well as a raffle. All proceeds go to the Alzheimer’s Association. • Biblical Counseling Training — Faith Bible Church in Sharpsburg is offering two Biblical Counseling Training sessions. Classes cover a practical theology of biblical counseling and a practical methodology of biblical counseling. Option one meets 7-9 p.m. and began Aug. 26 — meeting Mondays through Dec. 9, and Jan. 6 through April 28, 2014. Option two meets 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. two Saturdays a month Sept. 7 - Dec. 7 and Jan. 4 - April 19, 2014. Details: call the church at 770-252-8244.

• Kidney Smart — Piedmont Newnan Hospital and a local dialysis group are working to raise education on kidney disease. Kidney Smart classes are held monthly second Wednesdays on the bottom floor of Piedmont Newnan next to the cafeteria at 4:30 p.m. The one-hour class is free and materials are sent home with the recipient, said Cassie Carson, a licensed practical nurse with Davita Dialysis of Newnan. Fourth shift/professional shift allows for dialysis patients wishing to work or wishing to free up the day to enjoy the outdoors. Also, Urgent Start is a program being collaborated with hospitals regarding unexpected kidney failure in an attempt to avoid dialysis in center and return the patient home as soon as possible by beginning an alternate modality at home. All interested patients must go to www.kidneysmart.org under “classes near you” to register for any upcoming classes. Classes are offered across Georgia for individuals that live farther. • The North Face Endurance Challenge — On Sept. 28 and 29 at F.D. Roosevelt State Park in Pine Mountain, The North Face Endurance Challenge will bring a hardy test for trail runners of all levels. There event will feature music, refreshments and food, free samples, product trials, demonstrations and raffle prizes from The North Face, GORE-TEX and more. The race is from 5 a.m. – 6 p.m. The fee is $5 parking. Call 706-663-4858 for more information.

• Lewis Grizzard & Catfish Memorial Bike Ride — The Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy will host a fundraising bicycle ride in Moreland Oct. 6 at 8 a.m. The ride begins at the Moreland Mill with a ride lengths optional (12, 25, 62 and 100 mile rides). Registration for individuals is $28, $75 for families. Pre-registration should be completed by Sept. 10. Signing up on-site on the day of the event will increase registration fee to $35. Lunch is included at the end of the race to every rider. Rest stops, refreshments and bike repair vehicles are available at certain intervals. • Cancer Support Group will resume its meetings in the fall. Group normally meets at First Baptist Church of Newnan, 15 W.
