UDC chapter honors Newnan couple

The Frankie Lyle Chapter No. 2074 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy presented Sparks and Linda Ramey of Newnan with awards at their Annual Jefferson Davis Luncheon.

Linda Boggs Ramey was awarded the Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal. She received this award for her dedication in presenting programs to various groups and organizations about the people and events from the War Between the States. Linda Ramey is a member of the Frankie Lyle Chapter 2074 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy in Jonesboro. She is currently serving as the Recorder of the Military Service Awards. She was appointed as the UDC Georgia Division director for the magazine.

Marion Sparks Ramey Jr. was awarded the Stonewall Jackson Medal for his outstanding contributions and support of the United Daughters of the Confederacy through the Frankie Lyle Chapter No. 2074. Sparks is a member of General James Longstreet Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and is this camp’s past commander.

Honored at the same meeting was James Franklin Lowe who was the recipient of the Nita McFarland Scholarship. Lowe is a student at Fayette County High School and also a member of the Jeff Lowe Camp of the SCV. He is the son of Jeff and Ann of Fayetteville.
