'Smoke on the Mountain' coming to Southside Theatre Guild

'Smoke on the Mountain,' a musical comedy that introduces the singing Sanders family with their traditional and bluegrass gospel songs, will be playing at Southside Theatre Guild in Fairburn starting Aug. 9.

Set in the 1930s, this hysterical musical tale revolves around the Sanders family singing for the members of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, NC. Pastor Oglethorpe welcomes the family to the church, where their individual stories and quirky personalities will keep audience members in stitches.

Currently playing is 'All Shook Up,' featuring the songs of Elvis Presley, with remaining shows July 12, 13, 14 (matinee) 19, 20, 21 (matinee) 26, 27, 28 (matinee). Make reservations at www.stgplays. com .

The theater is at 20 W. Campbellton St. in Fairburn. For more information on dates when the box office is open, visit the reservations page, send an email to boxoffice@stgplays.com or call 770-969-0956.

Southside Theatre Guild has its next club meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. STG is staffed completely by volunteers - people with a love for live theatre and the arts. If you have a skill or talent, then STG is looking for you; for every one person you see on stage, there are three or four people behind the scenes, making it all happen. If you can act, draw, swing a hammer, use a paint brush, sweep, sew, play an instrument - anything at all - you will fit in at STG, say guild leaders.
