'Living it Up Downtown' student art exhibition at Centre through Saturday

For 2008, April 20-26 was selected as Georgia Cities Week with the theme "Living it Up Downtown."

Area students participated in a city-inspired art contest following the "Living it Up Downtown" theme. Participating artists are students at Newnan High School.

The winners are: Anna Hobbs, first place; Lydia Ozier, second place; and Kristen Pirie, third place. First-through-third-place winners will receive U.S. savings bonds and a signed certificate from Mayor Keith Brady. Honorable mentions included Tabitha Nalley and Abby Clements.

The top eight "Living it Up" pieces are on display at the Centre for Performing and Visual Arts on Lower Fayetteville Road through tomorrow.

"We are very proud of Newnan and the talent we have in our youth," said Gina Snider, the city's public information officer. "The city's art contest is a great way for the youth of Newnan to display their talent and show their interpretation of our city through art."
