In ceremonies held Dec. 10, 2011 at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, graduating cadets were awarded commissions as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

James Ryan Morris earned a bachelor of science degree and commissioned as a quartermaster. He is the son of Donna L. Nowell of McDonough and James Shawn Morris of Newnan. He is the husband of Alexia N. Morris. He graduated from Eagles Landing High School in McDonough in 2008.

North Georgia is one of only six senior military colleges in the nation. Participation in the Corps of Cadets, also known as the Boar's Head Brigade, offers the opportunity to acquire a degree on a chosen field of study while simultaneously earning and officer's commission in the U.S. Army, either active, guard or reserve.
