The Child Care Resource and Referral Agency (CCR&R) of West Central Georgia at Thomaston, a program of Flint River Technical College offers training classes for child care providers, parents, and foster parents.
Effective Oct. 1, the training classes the agency sponsors for parents and child care providers are no longer free.
For cost information parents and child care providers may contact the office office.
The programs are funded by Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning through the Federal Child Care Development Grant. For cost information and to pre-register, contact the CCR&R staff at (706) 646-6215 or toll free at 1-800-613-8546.
Upcoming classes include:
--"Registration Orientation Meeting for Starting a Family Child Care Home" for family child care home providers will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. -4 p.m., at the Flint River Technical College Community Development Center, Room 204, 115 East Main Street, Thomaston, GA (Upson Co.). Upon completion of the training session, participants will receive three DECAL ( Department of Early Care and Learning) accepted clock hours.
--"Get Ready to Read" for child care providers, parents, and foster parents will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m., at the J. Joel Edwards Library, 7077 U.S. Hwy. 19, Zebulon, GA (Pike Co.). Upon completion of the training session, participants will receive two DECAL approved clock hours.
-- "Nutrition I & II" for child care providers, parents, and foster parents will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. -1 p.m., at the Coweta County fairgrounds Complex Center, 275 Pine Road, Newnan, GA ( Coweta Co.). Upon completion of the training session, participants will receive four DECAL approved clock hours.
--"Infectious Disease Control in the Child Care Setting and Creating a Child-Proof Environment: Injury Prevention" for child care providers, parents, and foster parents on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. -1 p.m., at the Carrollton Parks & Recreation, 118 South White Street, Carrollton, GA (Carroll Co.). Upon completion of the training session, participants will receive four DECAL approved clock hours.
