The Newnan-Coweta Board of Realtors installed new officers and directors for 2009 at its regular meeting Wednesday at The Special Events Center in Newnan.
Officers and directors were installed by Realtor and Georgia Association of Realtors Regional Director Hazel Hendrix.
Installed were Luke Thompson, president; Scott Cosby, vice president; Tom Barron, secretary; Linda Mitchell, Cynthia Hand, Sandra Cenkner, Sherry Stone-Blackmon, and Cheryl Reed, state directors; John Thrasher, Chrystal Bashakes, Wyvonia Smith-Gorden, Vicki Dell, Laura Gabbard, Pamela Prange, Georgia Nations, and Bill Howard, local directors.
Each member of the Newnan-Coweta Board of Realtors is also a member of the Georgia Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. All real estate licensees are not Realtors, only those who are members of National Associations of Realtors are bound by a strict code of ethics and can use the registered trademark title.
Realtors are expected to maintain a higher level of knowledge of the process of buying and selling real estate than licensees that are not Realtors.
Realtors have agreed to act under and adhere to a strict Code of Ethics that obligates them to be honest with all parties involved in a transaction, be it buyer, seller or cooperating agent.
The National Association of Realtors, celebrating its 100th year, is the world's largest professional association with more than one million members who belong to one of more than 1,700 local associations/boards.
The Georgia Association of Realtors is the largest trade organization in the state with more than 44,000 members, while the Newnan-Coweta Board of Realtors has more than 425 members. Realtors proudly display the Realtor logo on their business cards and other promotional material.
