Kason Industries has been nominated for a Manufacturer of the Year Award.
The program is sponsored annually by the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Technical College System of Georgia. Kason was not selected for the statewide award, but Greg Wright, president of the Coweta County Development Authority, said being nominated is a major accomplishment.
Burl M. Finkelstein, executive vice president and general counsel with Kason, attended Thursday’s joint meeting of CCDA and the Development Authority of Coweta County. During the meeting at the authority’s board room, Finkelstein was presented with a certificate for Kason from David Brown, chairman of CCDA and DACC, and Perrin Alford, provost and chief operating officer of West Georgia Technical College.
It was noted Finkelstein has been with Kason since the company came to Coweta County in 1980. That longevity speaks both to Finkelstein’s abilities and “to the stability of the business,” Brown remarked.
“Kason’s grown in the community,” Finkelstein said. “It’s important to employ people in the community and to produce things locally.” The company is “trying to bring some work back and make some more product” to be sold “all over the world,” he said.
