Falcon Aviation Academy will be hosting an open house at its new facility at the Newnan-Coweta Airport on Dec. 13 from noon until 5 p.m.
Falcon Aviation Academy will be spotlighting its new flight training and maintenance facility. Attendees may either drive in or fly in.
The flight school will have about 60 employees, to start, and will be relocating 47 aircraft, an aircraft maintenance company, and its large flight and charter schools to Coweta County.
The company will train 144 pilots per year from six Chinese airlines, in addition to other clients.
The company has locations at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, Athens-Ben Epps, and LaGrange-Callaway, in addition to Newnan and Peachtree City.
Falcon Aviation Academy began in 1999 as Griffin Flight School. One year later, it moved to its current location at the Falcon Field Airport.

On opening day, a donation was made to the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing furniture to formerly homeless people who have secured housing.

The Newnan-Peachtree City Area Employer Committee will host a holiday breakfast on Dec. 16 at 8 a.m. at the state Department of Labor's Newnan Career Center, 30 Bledsoe Road.
Each year the committee celebrates the holiday season with its partners at the Department of Labor "by enjoying a breakfast gathering" in what has become a holiday tradition, said Lee Whetstone, president of the committee.
The breakfast will take the place of the regular monthly meeting that is normally held at the Calumet office.

Higgins Hillcrest Chapel on Bullsboro Drive will be hosting a live nativity on Dec.12 from 6-8 p.m.
"The children especially enjoy the stable animals we bring in for the event," said Darlene Higgins. "The entire community is invited."

BB&T announced this week that it has named Bill Kilburg as president of its Peachtree City-based South Atlanta Region.
Kilburg, who joined BB&T in 2005, previously managed BB&T's Middle Market Banking Group in metro Atlanta. The 45-year-old succeeds Derek Lane, who was named to head BB&T's Greensboro, N.C.-based Sales Finance Department.
The South Atlanta Region has more than $1.7 billion in deposits and 31 financial centers. Regional presidents at BB&T are responsible for commercial banking, small business banking, retail banking and retail mortgage banking.
"Bill is an experienced banker and exceptional leader," said Lars Anderson, president of BB&T's Georgia operations. "His leadership is measured not only in the financial success of his team, but in the positive impact he's had in developing employees and as an important member of our Metro Atlanta senior leadership team. His market knowledge and leadership skills will serve him very well in his new role."

On Jan. 28, 2010, Coweta County will honor its next Citizen of the Year, and the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce wants nominations by Dec. 18. Nomination forms are available through the Chamber.
"The Citizen of the Year Award was established by the Chamber in 1992 to recognize individuals with outstanding leadership and citizenship within the community," said Don Chapman, community volunteer and 2009 Citizen of the Year. "These are people who demonstrate exemplary vision, civic pride and a strong commitment to a better Coweta County."
Nominees must be residents of Coweta County and must focus their efforts in the county and surrounding area.

Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty agent Leigh Neely recently completed the accredited post license and continuing education Bullard Boot Camp.
She is originally from Gastonia, NC, where she graduated from Forestview High School. She received a B.S. degree in industrial engineering from North Carolina State University where she was on the track team. Additionally she was a gymnast for 15 years.
She was previously employed as an industrial engineer with Milliken and Company in Gainesville, Ga. Neely currently resides in Fairburn with her 19-month-old son.
Bullard Boot Camp contains 35 hours of in-depth sales, marketing and computer training.
