by Clay Neely

Academy Sports + Outdoors will be kicking off its grand opening next week by donating $100 Academy gift cards to 30 deserving youth from the Newnan/Coweta Boys & Girls Club and letting them shop for anything in the store the day before it opens.

Store Director Ricky Jordan and his staff will cut their ceremonial ribbon Thursday prior to inviting 30 youth from the Newnan area to shop during a private youth give-back event and be the first customers of the store. Academy Sports + Outdoors will donate $100 Academy gift cards to each child as well as provide a personal shopping assistant. The private youth shopping spree will begin Thursday at 2 p.m.

On Friday, July 19 at 8 a.m, Academy Sports + Outdoors will open its newest store and first in Newnan.

The first 100 customers in line at each store who show they “like” the official Academy Facebook page will receive a free 50-qt. Igloo rolling cooler.

Academy Sports + Outdoors is located in Newnan Pavilion on 1096 Bullsboro Dr. Newnan, GA 30265. The store features 73,000 square feet of footwear, apparel, sports and leisure products plus hunting, fishing and camping equipment.
