BJ’s donates 16,000 diapers

The Newnan BJ’s Wholesale Club recently donated 16,472 diapers to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

The Newnan donation was part of a company-wide donation of more than 760,000 diapers.

Diapers were donated in sizes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

“BJ’s Wholesale Clubs supports communities in need by not only donating grocery items, but also by assisting families in protecting their most vulnerable members: their babies,” said Jessie Newman, assistant vice president of community affairs at BJ's Wholesale Club. “By expanding the scope of our donations, we are continuing to help even more families build stronger communities – an effort we are honored and proud to support.

Sam’s Club offers chip-enabled credit card technology

Sam’s Club is the first mass retailer to offer a credit card equipped with advanced chip-enabled security technology. The card was available to Atlanta-area members June 23.

Each card has an embedded chip that makes the card more difficult to duplicate.

Kroger raises $232,000 for Children’s Miracle Network

Kroger’s Atlanta Division raised more than $232,000 for Children’s Miracle Network during a fundraiser May 18 to 31. Customers could purchase $1 “Miracle Balloons.” All proceeds will be donated to CMN hospitals in the Atlanta Division.

Children’s Miracle Network is a nonprofit that raises money for more than 170 hospitals. Donations help ensure that partner hospitals have the resources to diagnose or treat diseases and injuries among children.

SouthTowne, Water and Sewerage Authority win at Chamber Golf Classic

The 29th annual Newnan-Coweta Chamber Golf Classic was held May 7 at Canongate on White Oak. With almost 300 golfers and 100 volunteers, this year’s tournament raised more than $80,000 to help fund the chamber’s efforts to promote and foster economic prosperity for Coweta County.

SouthTowne Motors earned first place as the low gross team. The Coweta County Water and Sewerage Authority earned the next highest honor, first place net. Blue Chip Air Commercial Industrial was second place net, and Brickhouse Grille and Tavern was third place net.
