Impromptu speaking topic for business women’s group

A representative of the Toastmasters organization will teach a session in impromptu speaking at the next meeting of the Business Women of Fayette and Coweta.

Dwight Jones, immediate past district governor for the Georgia Toastmasters, presents “Speaking on Your Feet without Falling on Your Face” at the next BWFC evening meeting on Tuesday, June 24.

“Most of the talking we do every day – simple conversation – is impromptu speaking,” said Dwight Jones, who, along with BWFC Treasurer Maria Vigil, sits on the board for Peachtree City non-profit International Friends Foundation. IFF provides scholarships for high school students to go abroad.

Jones explained his presentation like this, “Although you may only have a few seconds to prepare, you can apply a few strategies that I will teach you that will make you shine the next time you are asked to speak on the spur of the moment.”

"It’s a priority of the BWFC to bring useful business skills to women in business. Fluid public speaking is a business essential, and that’s why we’re so pleased to welcome Dwight Jones to our gathering," said Ellie White-Stevens, Marketing Guru and BWFC president.

The June 24 meeting will also be a networking opportunity. Women who own, manage, or sell in business are especially encouraged to attend. The event will be at Maguire’s Irish Pub in Senoia, with networking and dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the full meeting at 7 p.m. Reservations are not required.

BWFC meets at Maguire’s in Senoia on even months. The BWFC’s mission is to give back for a better community.

Their next benefit will be Art Walk for Pathway on Sept. 20 from 6-9 at “The Brick” at Heritage Christian Church. This event supports the work of Pathway Home for Women breaking free from life-controlling issues like drug and alcohol abuse. Tickets will be available soon at www.bwfcc.org.
