After celebrating your first year of doing business in Newnan, what are your goals for the future?

I’d say our biggest goal would be moving into a larger location so we can hold larger gaming events. Our current space allows around 80 to 100 people on the weekends playing tournaments for different card games. There are tournaments that could hold over 300 that we just don’t have the space for at the moment. With a larger location, we could hold quarterly events. Not to mention we could dedicate extra time and space to the parts of the business that are doing strongest – gaming, vintage comics. Things like that.

Is there a common thread that your customers share?

To be honest, you get a lot of kids and adults. The older ones like to keep a foot in the past and be connected with all the cool stuff they had growing up in the 1980s or what-have-you. The comics, the games. A lot of people put in their 40 hours a week and when the weekend comes, they want to go get their comics, go play, hang out in the shop and relax. We’ve always looked at this place as a “Cheers” for our customers. We know our customers and they know each other. It’s not like they have to buy something. For me, it allows guys my age to connect with their inner child. I think that’s more important than ever.

What do you feel is the greatest contributing factor to the success of your business?

I think being able to talk to our customers and let them know things that they might like.

You get customers who say, “I can get this for a dollar less on Amazon” or whatever but that’s just the nature of the business. Sure, you can go get it there but there’s a certain distance that it creates. Plus I think it’s kind of a cop-out to blame a big box store for a failure. It’s up to you to create a place and an environment that people want to return to. We have over 50 years experience combined. We love what we do and I think people understand that when they come in here and talk with us.
