60 Seconds with Travis Self

Mindy and Travis Self from CrossFit Newnan.

What made Coweta a good place for a Crossfit facility?

Simplest answer, my wife and I live here and we love the community and would not want to live anywhere else! We were the first, and still are the largest CrossFit facility, with the highest level of certified trainers. Coweta County needed “a different way to train” and we were it!

What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced since opening?

Probably, like many businesses, price. While we are extremely competitive for a CrossFit facility, it is still more than your normal $25 or $40/month membership. Included in our membership are six certified trainers, with you and pushing you every workout, programmed workouts every time you step in the door, which are always changing and growing with you, nutrition assistance for you, for your goals specifically, accountability, if you are not there we are calling you, and childcare – all included. Until someone tries it once, it can be difficult to explain, but once they do…they totally get it!

What are your long-term goals for the future?

We have just finished a large expansion where we doubled in size, adding a full childcare room (also included in membership), showers and locker room, in addition to more awesome equipment. Our next goals are our 6th Annual Strongman, coming up on June 7 at Ashley Park. All net proceeds are donated to the local Assistance in Healthcare Chapter. We will also be hosting our first Garage Games CrossFit Event on Oct. 11 and 12, and our Second Annual Golf Tournament at Newnan Country Club on Sept. 22 to benefit Coweta County Special Olympics. We are excited to honor God with our business, and grow and to give back to such an awesome community.
