60 Seconds with Cindy Gibbons
by Clay Neely - email@example.com
What was the idea behind the creation of StoneBridge? Was there a catalyst that spurred it?
StoneBridge was created because of an overwhelming desire to design and direct a child care facility that maintains the highest of standards and continuously exceeds the industry standards. My focus in the past has always been managing a facility, which had limitations. By owning the center there are fewer restrictions for implementing a successful program. After 25-plus years in child care, I was finally able to develop what I believed in. I have HUNDREDS of catalysts, the children!
What has been one of the biggest challenges you've faced as director?
Initially my biggest challenge was to overcome the stigma of being just another “daycare center.” There is truly a difference in “daycare” and Early Education. Developing a child’s educational foundation begins at birth. My biggest challenge now is dividing my time between our two locations, wishing I could be at each one full time. To meet these challenges I surround myself with staff that share the same passion for our program. My staff is really what makes all this possible.
How do you envision the future of StoneBridge?
For many years to come I envision StoneBridge continuing to introduce advanced opportunities to the hundreds of children in our care. Whitney Houston’s “The Greatest Love of All” may have answered this question best for me, “ I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.”
